Thanks to Arup’s innovative use of real-time infrastructure monitoring, the Crown Estate have reduced carbon emissions across their property portfolio. 

The Crown Estate own of some of London’s highest-value property – so transforming their portfolio to be more eco-friendly was no mean feat.

Working at the cutting edge of real-time data capture, the team at Arup were able to devise a means of monitoring key indicators, such as occupants’ usage of heating and ventilation.

This empowered the Crown Estate to solve problems before they arose – reducing both their carbon output and their expenditure.

Arup are now in discussion with the Crown Estate about expanding their monitoring, allowing the estate to get an even fuller picture of their resource usage. 

From this rich, real-time dataset, the Crown Estate were able to not only make data-driven property management decisions, but also to proactively anticipate repairs.
