The advocacy group champions practical improvements to procurement, shaping ACE/EIC’s interactions with policymakers, supporting evidence-based thought-leadership, and ensuring our industry is at the forefront of government discussions of an area which cuts across all member activity.

Our members rely on a clear, stable plan of works. Innovation and infrastructure funding needs to remain at globally competitive levels with clear consistent pipelines of work. When resources can be planned, our members can upskill their staff and deploy them efficiently to projects making sure specialist skills are ready to help at the right time. This is critical to the success of ‘UK PLC’ projects and them delivering value for money.

Furthermore, procurement processes need to be fair and contracts balanced. Social value must be recognised in the procurement process. The current insurance market for construction does not work. Far too much risk, and often inappropriate risks, are loaded on one product or supplier. The impacts of such behaviour are far reaching. From inflated project costs to diminished competition and hindered economic growth - the status quo is untenable. The balance of risk is wrong and needs to be reviewed.
