CLIMATE CHANGE: IT'S NOW OR NEVER

The time for change is now. The business community has the power to influence the effects of climate change, through business operations, supply chains and offering more sustainable choices to customers. For positive change we must disrupt and challenge the ‘business as usual’ mind set.

This event is suitable for Northwest England based small and medium sized businesses (SMEs), researchers and academics interested in the net zero carbon agenda.

At this 2-hour online event you will first hear from keynote speaker Duncan Pollard, former VP for Sustainability at Nestle and Director of Conservation Practice & Policy at WWF. An expert in the complexity and inter-connectedness of today's sustainability system challenges, Duncan can advise on how to integrate, engage, and operationalise sustainable practice in business.

Following this, you are invited to participate in a themed breakout session to discuss shared challenges, opportunities and to hear about successful business case studies.

Circular Economy, hosted by University of Central Lancashire and Manchester Metropolitan University. Discuss how energy can be part of the circular solution to meet future needs and limit climate change impact.

Nature based solutions, hosted by Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria. Through short case studies and an interactive discussion, this breakout session will cover the use of natural resources in different areas such as packaging and land management.

Built Environment, hosted by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University. This breakout session will cover the potential for 3D printing as a sustainability disrupter in the built environment sector, through presentation of novel research and an interactive discussion.

This webinar is hosted by the Eco-I Northwest project which offers funded opportunities and support to businesses who want to make the transition to a low carbon economy. You will hear about available R&D and innovation support across different themes and sectors.
