IPA AIMS TO DISCOVER HOW PREPARED SECTOR IS FOR SHIFT IN APPROACH

ACE responds to consultation on "a new approach to building"

ACE has responded to the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) consultation on how prepared the sector is to adapt to a "new approach to building".

The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced at Budget that five central government departments would adopt "a presumption in favour of offsite construction". This signalled that the government was committed to leveraging its buying power to "support the modernisation of the construction sector".

Proposing that government departments take a consistent approach to construction by using standardised and inter-operable components from a wide base of suppliers across a range of different buildings to drive new markets in manufacturing in construction. This will allow the government to realise efficiencies of scale and improve quality.

ACE has submitted its response on behalf of its members, which also ties into some of the work of the Future of Consultancy campaign. Browse all of our consultaiton responses in the Policy Library.
