Carbon Reduction Initiatives
A central theme of the meeting focused on carbon reduction initiatives. Industry experts at the meeting shared insights into projects and innovations aimed at reducing carbon emissions across the built environment, in particular concrete. From the adoption of sustainable materials to the implementation of data-driven strategies, attendees explored a series of approaches to combatting climate change within different sectors.
The Power of Data
Data has emerged as a powerful tool for sustainability, and this was a focus in the meeting. Members discussed the importance of leveraging data to inform decision-making and drive actionable insights through the Built Environment Carbon Database (BECD). ACE is currently supporting the database as a member of the BECD Steering Group.
Market Update
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for members to offer market updates on key issues and developments in the first quarter of the year. This open forum allowed participants to share firsthand insights into emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities within the industry. From shifts in regulatory landscapes to advancements in sustainable technologies, members had the chance to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the current market dynamics. This exchange of information supports the ACE in discussions with government departments.
Climate Resilient Places
Members of the Group were presented with ACE’s ongoing project into building climate-resilient places open to commercial and social interests.
Members interested in the project are asked to consider the following, and provide feedback to the ACE Team:
- What climate impact mitigation will urban and periphery places need to incorporate over the next 10 years?
- How will we attract businesses to a place?
