Co-developed by Cabinet Office and the Industry with ACE taking a leading role, the Construction Playbook was released today (8 December).
In effect outlining how the client and market’s commercial relationships can evolve to can meet political ambitions to go “faster, better, greener”, the Construction Playbook also champions best-practice in procurement and contracting. It will help consultants who advise clients on routes to market or procurement strategies, as well as those who deliver technical services such as design, modelling or surveys.
At over 80 detailed pages in length, the Playbook requires time to digest. To guide members to the significant policy changes relevant to them, we have produced a member only briefing and are hosting a webinar to further help members digest this major new approach to procurement.
The free-to-attend webinar takes place on Tuesday 19 January 2021 at 11.00am. Construction Playbook: What does it mean for consultants? is hosted by ACE vice chair Dave Beddell who will be joined by members of the Cabinet Office Playbook team. Together they will explore the major issues facing consultants and provide members with an opportunity to follow-up directly with the experts who helped write the Playbook.
Hannah Vickers commented: “The Construction Playbook is great news for all of our members, it addresses many of the perennial challenges around tactical, short-term procurement approaches. Whether our members are advising clients on routes to markets, procurement strategies, or delivering technical services, the Playbook will ensure that there is a good practice blueprint to refer back to."
“ACE worked in close partnership with the Cabinet Office to develop the Playbook and we’re pleased that so much of our input and insight was taken on board. As a result, I think we’ve got an approach that really works for both industry and Government and through the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) we look forward to continuing this close relationship during the implementation phase.”
“This includes at our webinar on 19 January 2021 which will give ACE members the opportunity to ask questions directly to the Cabinet Office and those who helped draft the Playbook. In the New Year we will also be engaging members to identify areas of opportunity where public sector clients need additional support to take on board the Playbook’s recommendations."
