HEATHROW TO LAUNCH CONSULTATION AND FINALISE EXPANSION PLANS

ACE members are encouraged to engage with new airport consultation

Heathrow has announced that it will launch a new eight week public consultation to finalise its expansion proposals. This follows the announcement that the UK’s aviation regulator, the CAA, will cap spending on the major project.

As a result, the construction period for the new third runway has now been prolonged and the project now requires a refreshed remodelling of key aspects of the plan, including public transportation.

The consultation runs between April and June this year and responses will feed into the final planning application which is expected to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate towards the end of the year.
If the final plans are accepted, the third runway is expected to open between 2028-29.

More details on the consultation are available on Heathrow’s website.
