RECRUITMENT BOOST FOR AECOM

Infrastructure consultancy AECOM has announced plans to hire around 380 people for its Environment, Water and Energy (EWE) business this year.

The new recruits will support AECOM’s expanding project portfolio as clients seek support with challenges such as climate change, water scarcity and the energy transition.

AECOM’s EWE teams are working on key climate-related projects as business and industry seeks to decarbonise.

Projects include the Mansfield sustainable drainage scheme where AECOM is designing innovative nature-based solutions to provide climate resilience and reduce flood risk for the community.

It is also delivering management of the Environmental Impact Assessment work for National Grid’s Grimsby to Walpole upgrade project as part of a partnership.

Plus AECOM is undertaking the front-end engineering design for ATOME’s 120MW Villeta Project, a new green hydrogen-based fertilizer project in Paraguay.

The roles will cover areas such as energy (including transmission and distribution and renewables), water, environmental impact assessments, planning and communities, carbon and ESG, environmental health and safety, and environmental due diligence.

“An increasing number of clients are seeking our support for the major transition they need to achieve to reach net zero, whether that’s decarbonisation, the energy transition, or enhancing their natural capital,” said Gert Vermeiren, managing director of the Environment, Water and Energy business line at AECOM in Europe and India.

“For our people this means there are a number of exciting opportunities to work on the most impactful projects in the region in terms of reaching net zero."
