ROUNDTABLE: INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND LEVELLING UP THE NORTH/SOUTH DIVIDE

The Infrastructure Intelligence LIVE series of events continues on Friday 2 October 2020 with a roundtable looking at the role of infrastructure investment in levelling up the North/South divide.

The UK is one of the most geographically unequal developed economies in the world. While cities and large towns in the south east of England are among the most productive and prosperous places in Europe, most in the north and the Midlands lag far behind. The government has made it a key priority to address this inequality and ‘level up’ underperforming and left-behind parts of the UK through a programme of infrastructure development, investing in education, skills and scientific R&D. Infrastructure investment will play a key role in this ‘levelling up’ and so will the elected metro mayors and their combined authorities.

This special Infrastructure Intelligence roundtable event on Friday 2 October 2020 will bring together four elected metro mayors for the north, or representatives from these areas, to discuss what actions need to be taken to help level up the North/South divide and crucially what role the metro mayors will have in all this. We hope to be joined by the elected metro mayors for Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, North of Tyne and others for what promises to be an illuminating and thought-provoking discussion.

Find out about the role of infrastructure investment in levelling up the North/South divide by attending this roundtable discussion, which is organised in association with our strategic partner, BECG.
