DALE SINCLAIR JOINS WSP AS HEAD OF DIGITAL INNOVATION

WSP has appointed Dale Sinclair as head of digital innovation within its property & buildings business.

Sinclair joins WSP from AECOM where he has spent the last eight years, most recently as director of innovation. He specialises in utilising digital tools and solutions to optimise the design, management and computational delivery of large-scale projects in the built environment.

He was previously RIBA vice-president responsible for practice and profession, a RIBA trustee and councillor, and is currently on the board of the Construction Industry Council and chairs industry groups at the Construction Leadership Council and British Standards Institute.

He has worked on a number of significant projects in the healthcare, retail, sport and commercial office sectors, including as lead designer on Moorfields Eye Hospital’s new facility at King’s Cross in London.

WSP uses a range of digital construction methods to support the design and engineering of complex projects, and Sinclair will be working collaboratively with the firm’s net zero, digital services and modern methods of construction (MMC) specialists.

Looking forward to his new role at WSP, Sinclair said: “I’m delighted to join WSP at such an exciting time for both our business and our industry. We’re experiencing a paradigm shift in the way we design and construct buildings, and innovations in digital technology are going to be at the forefront of this fundamental change. WSP has designed and engineered some of the most iconic buildings in the UK and globally and I’m looking forward to bringing my passion and ideas to this forward-thinking and innovative organisation.”

Kamran Moazami, managing director for property & buildings at WSP, said: “Dale’s creativity and invaluable experience will strengthen WSP’s intention to offer our clients the best holistic engineering solution in the UK, adding value through design optimisation, construction de-risking and speed of delivery. Through his work we will be able to deliver a total solution, from masterplanning to the construction of major projects, and drive forward our MMC and net zero goals as a cornerstone of our design excellence. I warmly welcome Dale to WSP.”

In 2020, WSP made a first-in-the-industry commitment to halve the carbon footprint of all designs and advice provided to clients by 2030. In December 2021, as part of its UK-wide carbon benchmarking programme, WSP’s Building Structures team shared new data on the embodied carbon associated with 91 recent projects to build sector knowledge.
