ACE Advisory Board member and former senior treasury advisor Geoffrey Spence is the special guest for next week’s Navigating Covid-19 webinar on Wednesday 29 April, which explores the banking and finance options available to businesses large and small.
A former banker, Spence will offer expert advice and explore the ins and outs of schemes such as the Coronavirus Business Interruption Scheme and the COVID-19 Corporate Financing Facility.
Furthermore, he’ll share his insight into some traditional finance options which have perhaps been overlooked by the recently announced emergency support.
Spence was also a senior civil servant at HM Treasury, and will share his experiences when he was special advisor to then chancellor Alistair Darling at the time of the financial crash of 2008.
He helped to shape the difficult decisions which ensured the economy did not grind to a complete halt then and as such is uniquely placed to understand what the current administration is experiencing.
Darrell Matthews, director of membership at the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) said: “We’re delighted to offer another high-calibre guest in our popular webinar series. The episode will cover practical advice, whether it’s applying for the new finance options or looking at what else is available to members.
“On top of that, Geoffrey’s unique experiences of working at the top of politics in the middle of the last major financial crisis will provide a unique insight to current times.”
Subsequent webinars cover R&D tax credits and cashflow, as well as what a recovery will look like with chair of the Construction Leadership Council, Andy Mitchell and chief executive of CECA, Alasdair Reisner.
