This Wednesday, 23 March, sees the chancellor deliver his third spring statement. Rishi Sunak will once again come to the House of Commons in a climate of uncertainty, with the rising cost of living and conflict in Ukraine adding to ongoing challenges around the pandemic and economic recovery.
A special ACE member webinar on Thursday 24 March at 12 noon will analyse the chancellor’s statement in the company of an expert panel of business and industry experts. They will take a close look at the announcements made by Rishi Sunak and work out what they might mean for construction and the built environment and any potential impact on recovery.
Commenting on the forthcoming chancellor’s statement, ACE CEO Stephen Marcos Jones said: “While we do not expect significant announcements for construction and the built environment, we will be keeping a close eye on the measures shared by the chancellor to support the government’s ambitions on net zero and levelling up. We expect there to be a focus on the conflict in Ukraine, but we need to ensure that any moves to promote energy independence do not come at the expense of national net zero targets.”
Joining host Stephen Marcos Jones at the webinar are Dave Beddell, AECOM’s director of growth for Europe and the current ACE chair, Sam Alvis, head of economy at Green Alliance, Dena Rafati, senior policy advisor – construction at the CBI and Guto Davies, head of policy at ACE and EIC. The webinar is free to anyone working for an ACE or EIC member. Book now.
Stephen Marcos Jones added: “Attendance at our webinar this Wednesday is really a must for anyone who wants to understand the impact of the announcements in the spring statement on their business’s bottom line, what new opportunities might emerge in the near future, and how ambitions on net zero and levelling up will be achieved.”
