INNOVATION AND NET ZERO HACKATHON AIMS TO BRING TOGETHER BRILLIANT MINDS

There’s still time to book your place on the Association for Consultancy and Engineering’s (ACE) hackathon on July 3, entitled ‘Innovation and Net Zero’.

During Net Zero Week, ACE and the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) is bringing together its members and other organisations working on solving some of the biggest issues our world faces in the built environment.

Hear from a guest speaker from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology present on the latest trends in the drive towards net zero, before working in groups to brainstorm and discuss the challenges and opportunities around delivering net zero in your industry.

In the afternoon, participants will work in groups to discuss strategies on how organisations can achieve net zero.

The event runs from 10am until 3pm and costs £30 for members of the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) and ACE, plus booking fee and £50 for non-members plus booking fee.

Philippa Spence chairperson of EIC, who is also managing director at Ramboll, said the hackathon was an ideal opportunity for organisations  to come together to discuss and explore opportunities for innovation and new business models in delivering net zero.

Spence said: “We are excited about Net Zero Week and the hackathon, which will bring innovators in the tech community and more traditional members of EIC together with members of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE).

“From SMEs to large consultancies, we are all part of a team that, when we collaborate together, can offer great and sustainable solutions to our clients.”

Net Zero week is the UK’s official national awareness week for the national sustainability agenda.

The not-for-profit social enterprise offers stakeholders a dedicated platform to voice opinions, share evidence and best practice, explore strategy, and highlight solutions in our shared journey towards a net zero future.

It was launched two years ago by Shawn Coles, who previously spent over 20 years working in climate change marketing and media.

Infrastructure Intelligence magazine has backed Net Zero Week as a media partner since the early days of the project and since then, more than 40 others have followed suit, including HM Government, Innovate UK, ADBA, Nuclear Industry Association, Carbon Capture & Storage Association, and HS2.

Book your place on the Net Zero Week hackathon today.
