IS YOUR FIRM AN INDUSTRY NET ZERO CHAMPION?

With COP26 fast approaching and the issue of sustainability and the environment hardly out of the news, it seems like an ideal time for consultancy and engineering companies to gain some recognition for the work they are doing with clients to help deliver green projects and a decarbonised world.

The Net Zero Advisor of the Year Award category in this year’s Consultancy and Engineering Awards will be awarded to a consultancy firm working in the built environment that can demonstrate a leading approach to advising clients on delivering a carbon-free future. Shortlisted companies will be viewed as net zero champions within the industry but will also lead by example.

The award category, which is sponsored by Arcadis, is part of the annual awards programme organised by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) and this net zero award is also to Environmental Industries Commission members, whose members are playing a prominent role across the sector on sustainability issues.

Companies entering the award will need to describe, listing specific details and examples, which environmental challenges they have targeted through specific projects, initiatives or new technology and how this has enhanced natural capital or helped move towards meeting net zero ambitions.

Crucially, entries will show how a consultancy firm has been innovative in its approach, through qualitative and quantitative evidence of actual or future impact. Award submissions will also outline what companies are doing to develop and scale-up their client offering around sustainability and net zero to other clients.

Given the importance of the net zero agenda and the fact that it is named by many as the single most important issue facing UK construction and infrastructure, ACE is hoping for a healthy crop of entries for this awards category in its annual programme and firms are encouraged to prepare their entry now to ensure that they are in with a chance of winning.

The Consultancy and Engineering Awards are supported by headline sponsors Bentley Systems and Griffiths & Armour, while Arcadis and WSP in the UK are category sponsors. Infrastructure Intelligence is also a media partner for the awards and its editor Andy Walker is a member of the judging panel.

This year there are ten awards and a simplified entry process which will be open until Sunday 4 July 2021 at 6pm. Entrants to last year’s awards (postponed because of the pandemic) have already been contacted to arrange for their entries to be transferred into this year’s competition.
