Kier Property has started work on site at the Logistics City industrial scheme in Milton Keynes.
Demolition work has started at the site on Michigan Drive which was purchased from BL Balmoral in July 2022 and comprised a 66,493 sq ft warehouse building and adjacent office block.
Having secured planning in June this year, Kier Property is demolishing the original building to make way for a 125,647 sq ft industrial facility built to net carbon zero standards, targeting the highly regarded BREEAM Excellent certification for environmental and operational sustainability.
Strategically located just 1.9 miles from Junction 14 of the M1 motorway, three miles from the centre of Milton Keynes and with the A5 just 4.2 miles away, the site provides access to the wider national motorway network, making it well-placed to serve the majority of the UK within four-and-a-half hours HGV drive time and is a prime ‘golden triangle’ logistics location.
Leigh Thomas, group managing director for Kier Property, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce this significant milestone.
“The location of this scheme is perfect for this type of development and our plans will see us create a new benchmark in energy-efficient, premium-quality industrial space when complete at the end of 2025.”
Kier Property has delivered more than 6.7 million sq ft of industrial space across the UK and has current schemes in Andover, Bognor Regis, Bracknell, Manchester and St Albans.
