Esh-Stantec joint venture has been appointed to deliver capital works for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects on the Northumbrian Water Runway 3 capital construction programme framework.
The JV is set to commence work on the framework after securing a place on both Lots 1 and 2. The framework will help maintain and improve the water and sewerage treatment and network assets, which serves 2.7 million people across Northumbrian Water’s operating areas.
The capital works for the infrastructure programme will deliver projects across the water and wastewater network, including sewer flooding schemes, strategic water mains and pipeline projects. The capital works for the non-infrastructure programme focuses on delivering water, sewage and sludge treatment facilities, pumping stations, boreholes and service reservoirs. Each programme has an estimated value of between £10-50m respectively over the AMP7 period which will run to 2025.
The joint venture between Esh Construction and Stantec was formed in 2015 to deliver capital schemes through Northumbrian Water’s water and wastewater infrastructure framework. The latest appointment adds to Esh-Stantec’s success on the Runway 2 Framework, which has seen the joint venture deliver £90m of work over the last six-year period and being named Northumbrian Water’s supplier of the year in 2019.
David Pratt, Esh-Stantec divisional director, said: “Securing our place on Runway 3 is a fantastic achievement for the team and is a great addition to the projects we deliver on Runway 2. We look forward to extending our working relationship with Northumbrian Water and putting collaborative working and community engagement at the forefront of our delivery. Throughout this significant programme of work, as always, we will employ local, procure local and engage local, providing a boost for the region and our local communities.”
Scott Jackson, regional director of Stantec UK & Ireland, said: “The Esh-Stantec collaboration will continue to work as one team with Northumbrian Water, embedding Northumbrian’s vision and values into our operations. We look forward to continuing to bring innovative, sustainable, design solutions to assist Northumbrian in maintaining and managing its assets and securing resilient water networks for its regional communities.”
