The Infrastructure Intelligence Live series of events continues on Wednesday 11 November at 3pm with a live interview with Lord Deben, Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change.
The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) provides independent, expert advice about reducing greenhouse gas emissions to UK and devolved governments and reports progress towards meeting emissions targets to the UK parliament and parliaments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The committee is made up of experts in the fields of climate change science, economics, behavioural science, business and industry.
As the Rt. Hon John Gummer, Lord Deben was the minister for agriculture, fisheries and food between 1989 and 1993 and was the longest serving secretary of state for the environment the UK has ever had. His 16 years of top-level ministerial experience also include minister for London, employment minister and paymaster general. He has consistently championed an identity between environmental concerns and business sense. To that end, he set up and now runs Sancroft, a corporate responsibility consultancy working with blue-chip companies around the world on environmental, social and ethical issues.
Given the key strategic importance of the CCC’s work in advising UK governments and reporting to parliament on progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for and adapting to the impacts of climate change, an interview with the chairman of the CCC, someone who has also had a wide experience of government at the highest level, is a must-attend.
