SOCIAL VALUE FRAMEWORK NAMES 2022 STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Social value reporting framework, the Impact Evaluation Standard (IES), has today announced the members of its 2022 steering committee, to oversee its direction in the coming year. The six-strong independent expert panel ensures that the IES continues to provide the most comprehensive framework of metrics and proxy values for reporting on social value impact.

As Social Value takes an ever-more central place in public procurement, the need for a consistent, thorough and above all universally acknowledged set of standards for tracking and reporting has never been greater. The IES provides a series of metrics and proxy values that can be used to consistently assess the impact generated by over 109 different types of activities.

IES board member Benjamin Fellowes said: “The scale of humanity’s issues can feel daunting but that is why being able to consistently appraise and measure social impact is so important, because it can drive real change. Evaluating and improving the impact organisations are having at a social, economic and environmental level needs to be in sharp focus.

“I’m incredibly proud that the Impact Evaluation Standard is helping organisations of all sizes ensure they are contributing to the solution to local and global problems and that they can now evaluate and tell their story around this”

The steering committee evaluates rapidly evolving best practices in the appraisal of social, economic and environmental impacts and makes clear recommendations for updates and additions to the IES. This independent expert input is what enables businesses that use the IES to evaluate their social value efforts to be certain, not only that they are in line with all of the most recent government guidance but also that none of the value they create is missed.

About the Impact Evaluation Standard (IES)

The IES sets out a framework of metrics, proxy values and guidance documentation to assist public and private sector organisations in calculating and understanding the social value they are generating.

In essence it is a common list of activities that organisations undertake which have a significant social, economic or environmental impact on their communities. The IES provides guidance on how to value and assess the impact of these activities.

Through state-of-the-art ways of measurement and reporting, the IES helps organisations differentiate themselves from others. It also brings robust innovation in the quantitative and qualitative measurement of social impact and value.
