TETRA TECH BUYS UK CONSULTANCY HOARE LEA

US engineering firm Tetra Tech has announced that it has acquired leading UK M&E consultancy Hoare Lea. The purchase follows Tetra Tech’s acquisition of WYG two years ago and means that another independent UK consultancy firm is now under owned overseas.

Hoare Lea was established in 1862 and has more than 900 employees working from its 12 offices in the UK with two more in the Middle East. Commenting on the acquisition, Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech chairman and CEO, said: “The addition of Hoare Lea to our high-performance buildings group further advances Tetra Tech’s industry-leading sustainable building solutions for our commercial and government clients. They join our global practice that provides state-of-the-art net zero carbon design, digital engineering and building intelligence for the future of the built environment.”

Hoare Lea managing partner Justin Spencer said: “We are excited to join Tetra Tech. Engineers play a critical role in addressing the global challenges we all face, balancing the tension between planet-conscious and people-centric design. By joining the high-performance buildings group we will be able to build upon our strong and successful history of delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients.”

Tetra Tech is a leading provider of consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide. With 21,000 associates and revenue of more than $3bn, Tetra Tech provides technical solutions across a range of sectors including water, environment, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy and international development.
