After an extremely challenging year that has been like no other, Infrastructure Intelligence editor Andy Walker delivers a festive message to all our readers.
It is customary at this time of year to thank all our readers for their support over the past 12 months and to wish everyone the compliments of the season and a happy New Year to come. After an unprecedented year that has been like no other, my thanks is even more heartfelt than ever before.
As we see from the current news headlines, the Covid-19 pandemic is still very much with us and we are still not free from its far-reaching ramifications. Despite the difficulties and challenges, the construction and infrastructure sector has been working hard to deliver projects that will help the UK and global economy take steps towards economic recovery in the months to come.
We all need a break though and notwithstanding the fact that this will be a Christmas period like no other, I hope that all our readers will be able to find some time to relax, recharge and reflect after the year we have all endured.
Despite current challenges, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Like everyone, I hope that 2021 will see the coronavirus crisis abating due to the brilliant work of scientists and medics so that society can get back to something approaching normality, whatever ‘normal’ is in these post-Covid times.
So, let me say a massive thank you to all our readers, advertisers, online events speakers and attendees and to everyone else who has worked with us over the past 12 months. Your support is truly appreciated and I wish you all a safe and restful festive season, together with a 2021 that proves to be more certain and more hopeful than the year we have just experienced.
Take care – and we’ll see you all next year!
