TURNER & TOWNSEND WIN SYDNEY METRO CONTRACT

Australia’s biggest public transport project, Sydney Metro, has appointed Turner & Townsend, supported by HKA, Deloitte Australia and LogiKal to provide project management office support (PMOS) services across all projects in the Sydney Metro programme.

The PMOS contract is a long-term appointment of up to six years and encompasses Sydney Metro City & Southwest, Sydney Metro West, Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport, as well as studies into future network expansion.

By 2030, the Sydney Metro network will be expanded to include 46 stations and more than 113km of metro for Sydney. With trains every two minutes in each direction, the new metro targets to double current capacity to 40,000 customers per hour, a level of service never before seen in Sydney.

Turner & Townsend, HKA, Deloitte Australia and LogiKal will work as part of a blended team with Sydney Metro. When fully mobilised, the PMOS team will reach full capacity of over 80 programme and project controls professionals working across multiple contract packages.

Sydney Metro is described as a once-in-a-generation infrastructure project which will deliver exceptional benefits for the communities it serves by improving liveability, enhancing productivity and promoting connectivity across the Greater Sydney region.

Darren Munton, Turner & Townsend’s head of infrastructure for Australia and New Zealand said: “Our relationship with Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW extends over a decade since the inception of Sydney Metro. Over this time, we have worked tirelessly to build a reputation for delivering exceptional standards of service and working collaboratively with Sydney Metro and their key stakeholders.

“Through this most recent appointment, our combined PMOS team will further advance Sydney Metro’s capability, experience and global reputation by co-creating and embedding a world-class and digitally enabled PMOS to support the successful delivery of this mega programme of works.

“All of our team are extremely proud and privileged to have the opportunity to continue to be part of Australia’s most successful transport project and to help shape Sydney for generations to come.”
