Turner & Townsend has secured a two-year contract to provide project controls services for the Network Rail Crewe programme, which will connect the existing rail network with HS2 in the future.
The company will work as part of an integrated client team to help to ensure that effective controls and processes are established and integrated across the programme.
The delivery of the Crewe programme will allow Network Rail to improve services, resilience and capacity at the station, while preparing for connectivity with HS2 that will benefit all associated routes and locations.
Commenting on the contract award, Craig Owens, director for Turner & Townsend and regional rail sector lead said: “Crewe is a key junction on the existing rail network and will provide strategically important connectivity to HS2. The programme provides a major opportunity to improve capacity for passengers as well as delivering economic and environmental benefits that support the government’s levelling up agenda and the push for net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
“The appointment reflects the strength of our long-standing relationship with Network Rail and ability to deliver successful outcomes across a critical and transformational infrastructure programme for the UK.”
