Following an agreement between the UK Government and Scottish Government, Glasgow City Region and North East of Scotland have been announced as Scotland’s Investment Zones. 

Responding to the government announcement, ACE Scotland Chair Sarah Peterson commented:

"Today’s announcement by the UK and Scottish Government reaffirms the ambition to enhance research, development, and innovation in Scotland.

The two new investment zones go some way to supporting ACE Scotland's call for collaborative research and development partnerships, allowing for demonstrator projects or even pre-project simulations to allow businesses a safe space to experiment and test their innovations. 

Additionally, it is pleasing to see alignment with the levelling up agenda demonstrating the government remains focused on addressing issues around skills, better investment and more opportunities for local people. 

The investment zones and funding associated with them will be a welcome enhancement to the work by our members in Glasgow and the North East. We look forward to continuing to build on our existing work with the city regions in the UK and working with both the UK and Scottish Government through the consultation process to developing these investment zones."
